Dr. Weller leads Learning Care's educational vision and mission. She oversees teaching and curriculum, and the environments and experiences children and families find in each classroom. Her background covers more than 30 years as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach, supervisor of curriculum and instruction, and Assistant Superintendent. She holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, a B.S. in Education, and a M.Ed. in Reading.
Dr. Obarow leads quality assurance for the education programs. That means she owns the processes that measure whether those programs are working, including Education Quality Indicators and external accreditation. Her experience in early childhood education spans more than 25 years. She has worked as a teacher, school principal, K-12 administrator, coordinator of federal programs, and college professor. She checks the programs against their purpose, not just their promise.
Renee Thompson leads the vision and design of the educational programming. She holds a B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Towson University, and worked as a public and private school teacher and center director. Since 2011 she has led curriculum design teams. Her work covers standards-based curricula for infants through elementary school students, with teacher training built into the materials themselves.
Teachers plan the day around what children notice and ask about. A room might hold a tray of pinecones, a tub of water, a shelf of books. Teachers watch, then add a tool or a question. Parents can expect notes on what their child did, not just that they were fine.
